"Kidney Friendly" Diet

While every individual is different in what their diet requires, there are some common themes suggested by the Kidney Foundation of Canada to slow progression of chronic kidney disease. 


Common themes for a Renal Diet:

  • Reduced sodium

  • Reduced potassium

  • Reduced phosphorus

  • Depending on stage, avoiding excess protein

  • Avoid phosphate additives from processed foods
